Mage of Light: Luminous

Luminous was one of 5 heroes  who sealed away the Black Mage. Luminous is magician hero who uses one-handed Shinning Rod (or Dual Staff, primary weapon) and Orb (secondary weapon). When Luminous was sealing the Black Mage, he drained some Black Mage’s dark power into himself. As the results, Luminous’ skills have light/dark elements. Balancing the light and dark skills  will allow you to use powerful skills and deal more damage. Luminous has a Link Skill that ignores 10% of the enemy’s defense.

Storyline

Luminous is the final hero to enter the battle. On his way in, he saw Phantom and Aran, who hold off the Black Mage’s forces. Inside, Mercedes and Freud have already been defeated, Demon Slayer as well. After hearing that the Black Mage has been weakened greatly, Luminous seals the Black Mage away! He had to sacrifice himself and drained some of Black Mage’s dark power into himself.

When he wake up in Ellinia hundreds years later, a girl named Lania found him and brought him into her home. However, the dark power enhances and Lania’s house was destroyed. Luminous later attains control and is given the Choice of Light and Darkness!

General Information

  • Primary Weapon: Shinning Rod (One-Handed)

  • Linked Skill: Ignores 10% enemy’s defense.
  • Character Card: 10/20/40/80 INT.

Dark/Light System

In GMS, Luminous is NOT given the choice of Light or Dark. The dark side of quest line is selected. Luminous has to go through the struggle between Dark and Light.The 1st job skills are altered having both light and dark skills.

From 2nd job, Luminous uses a dark/light skill system which give bonus to the type of skills used. Top-right is Sunfire state. In this state, all Light skills deal extra 50% damage, heals 1% of MaxHP and cost 50% less MP. Bottom-right is the Eclipse state. In this state, all Dark skills deal extra 50% damage, heals 1% of MaxHP and cost 50% less MP.

After you logged in and use any Light skills once, you are in Sunfire state. If you use any Dark skills once,  you are in Eclipse state. Using of Light/Dark skill also earns you Light/Dark point as shown. Once the gauge is filled, you earn one point. You can use beginner skill “Switch Light/Dark Mode” to switch to other state.

From 3rd job, you will be briefly entering an Equilibrium state when switching between light and dark modes. In this state, you will receive 1% HP per cast, 100% Bonus damage and no cooldown. You can use skills with Equilibrium attribute. In order to do the most damage, you must keep switching between Light and Dark state! In general, the GMS version of Dark/Light system is easier than KMS’. Unfortunately, we do not have the choice between Light and Darkness.

    (Obtained at 2nd job) All dark skills deals extra 50% damage and uses 0 MP.

      Equilibrium

      Master Level: 1 Type: Passive

      (Obtained at 3rd job) While in Equilibrium state, 50% stance; All damage reduce to 1; skill cooldown ignored; All skills cost 0 MP, deals 50% more damage and heals 1% MaxHP; Equilibrium skills deals 100% damage.

        Light Wash

        [Link Skill] Ignores 10% enemy’s defense.

          Inner Light

          Master Level: 1 Type: Passive

          Permanently increases insight to Level 20 and +20 INT

            Flash Blink

            Master Level: 1 Type: Active

            Teleports to a nearby monster if outside town or a random location within town.

              Everything is at master level (i.e. Level 1) automatically. The link skill can be passed to other character at Level 70.

              Abyssal Drop

              [Dark Magic] Drops a condensed orb of darkness on multiple enemies in front of you.

              • Level 10: MP Cost: 22, Max Enemies Hit: 6, Damage: 107%.
              Dark Affinity

              Master Level: 5 Type: Passive

              Permanently increases light/dark magic ATT.

              • Level 5: Increase light/dark magic ATT by 5%
              Light Speed

              Master Level: 10 Type: Active

              Teleport in the direction you want by becoming a beam of light. You will be invulnerable for a short time after teleporting. Also permanently increases Movement Speed and Jump.

              • Level 10: MP Cost: 20. Teleports a range of 300, 500. Become invulnerable to physical attacks for a short time after teleport.\n[Passive Effect : Increases Movement Speed by 20, increases Jump by 10]
              Standard Magic Guard

              Master Level: 10 Type: Passive

              Converts a portion of damage received to MP instead of HP.

              • Level 10: 85% of damage affects MP instead of HP. If your MP reaches 0, your HP takes the full amount of damage.\nPassive affect: Physical/Magic DEF increased by 150
              Mana Well

              Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive

              Increases Max MP for a short time.

              • Level 20: MP Cost: 0. Duration: 180 sec, MP: +30%. Can stack with other buffs

              Luminous receives 65 SPs during 1st job. All skills can be maxed. Below is recommended build sequence:

              • Level 10: Flash Shower +1 (auto), Abyssal Drop +1 (auto),Dark Affinity +1 (auto) and  Light Speed +5

              Luminous Magic Guard is a Passive skill i.e. it cannot be debuffed by the monsters. This gives you a huge advantage as Luminous has very high MP. At the same time, Luminous will use a lot of MP potions as he does not have MP recovery skill. It is recommended to hunt for Jr. Boogie Familiar early as it gives you 15% MP Recovery every 10 seconds.

              A dark orb forms when you evade attacks for a short time in battle. Accumulating orbs will also increase Magic ATT. If you take any damage, one orb will be destroyed and absorb some of the damage.

              • Level 20: Creates a dark orb to protect you after evading all attacks for 5 sec. If you take damage, one orb will break absorb 70% of damage.\n[Accumlating orbs will increase Magic ATT] \n1 Orb: Magic ATT +15\n2 Orbs: Magic ATT +24\n3 Orbs: Magic ATT +30
              Magic Booster

              Master Level: 10 Type: Supportive

              For a certain period of time, the speed of your magic attacks is increased by 2 stages.

              [Light Magic] Tosses a spear of light to hit multiple enemies.

              • Level 20: MP Cost: 31. Max Enemies Hit: 8, Damage: 180%, Number of Attacks: 4
              Blinding Pillar

              Master Level: 10 Type: Active

              [Light Magic] Detonates a pillar of light that knocks back enemies and has a chance to stun.

              • Level 10: MP Cost: 15, Max Enemies Hit: 10, Distance: 350, Knockback Chance: 100%
              Pressure Void

              Master Level: 20 Type: Active

              [Dark Magic] Direct an orb of darkness to batter enemies. You can move the orb by holding the skill key and steering with the directional keys.

              • Level 20: MP Cost: 15, Enemies Hit: 8, Damage: 168%. by holding the skill key and using Left Arrow Key,Right Arrow Key.# Maximum range of 350 to the left and right.

              Luminous receives 94 SPs during 2nd job. You are only short of 1 SP. Below is recommended build sequence:

              • Level 30: Pressure Void +1 (auto) Sylvan Lance +1 (auto), Magic Booster +2
              • max Spell Mastery

              [Light Magic] Heal your party members and deal damage to enemies with the power of light.

              • Level 20: MP Cost: 41, 6 enemies within the range: 180% damage, Recovery 800%
              Spectral Light

              Master Level: 20 Type: Active

              [Light Magic] Fires controllable beams of light. You can steer the beams by holding the skill button and using the directional keys.

              • Level 20: MP Cost: 20. Max Enemies Hit: 8, Damage: 340%, Number of Attacks: 4.
              Shadow Shell

              Master Level: 10 Type: Supportive

              Deflect all abnormal status effects. The shell breaks and must cooldown after a certain number of deflected status effects. Passively increases resistance to all elemental and abnormal status effects.

              • Level 10: MP Cost: 200. Ignore abnormal status #3 times. Cooldown: 300 sec when broken.\n[Passive effect: Increase resistance to all elemental and abnormal status effects by 40%]
              Dusk Guard

              Master Level: 10 Type: Supportive

              Temporarily increase Physical and Magic DEF and has a chance to ignore damage.

              • Level 10: MP Cost: 76. Duration: 180 sec, Weapon/Magic DEF: + 300. 20% chance to ignore damage.
              Photic Meditation

              Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive

              Temporarily increases party Magic ATT. Stacks with Meditation.

              • Level 20: MP Cost: 55. Duration: 180 sec. Increases party Magic ATT 40.
              Lunar Tide

              Master Level: 20 Type: Passive

              Increase either Critical Rate or ATT, depending on your HP and MP.

              • Level 20: When MP is greater than HP, damage increases by 20%. When MP lower than HP, Critical Rate increases by 30%
              Death Scythe

              Master Level: 20 Type: Active

              [Equilibrium] A scythe-toting reaper comes down to destroy enemies.

              • Level 20: MP Cost: 120, Max Enemies Hit: 10, Damage: 230%, Number of Attacks: 6\n[Cooldown: 24 sec]

              Luminous receives 124 SPs during 3rd job. You have to choose a skill not to max and leave it at 4.

              • Shine Redemption – Healing Skill. Level 4 gives 100% HP recovery.
              • Nox Spear – The only dark skill during 3rd job. It will be replaced in 4th job by Apocalypse.
              • Death Scythe – The Equilibrium skill. The argument is Equilibrium skill is not used as much.

              The recommendation is not to max Shine Redemption and leave it at 4. The recommended build sequence is:

              • Level 60: Moonlight Spear +1 (auto) Spectral Light +1 (auto) Death Scythe +1, Photic Meditation +1
              • Ray of Redemption +1 and then max Photic Meditation which gives+40 Magic Attack.

              • max Moonlight Spear, Spectral Light and Death Scythe alternatively.
              • max Shadow Shell
              • add 3 SPs to Ray of Redemption

              [Dark Magic] Opens the Abyssal Rift under enemies to flood them with void energy.

              Arcane Pitch

              Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Supportive

              Ignore DEF and increase Critical Rate for a short period of time.

              • Level 30: MP Cost: 85 , Ignores monster DEF for 180 sec, Ignores monster resistances by 100%
              Dark Crescendo

              Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Supportive

              Has a chance to increase damage with each consecutive hit for a short period of time.

              • Level 30: MP Cost: 80. For 180 sec, chance to Increase Damage with each hit: 80%, Damage: +1%. Can stack up to 30 times
              Darkness Mastery

              Master Level: 5 Type: Supportive

              The buff duration of Equilibrium and the restoring speeds for both light and darkness skills increase. Also increase the ATT of Death Scythe.

              • Level 5: Equilibrium Duration: +10 sec. Time to reach Sunfire and Eclipse decreases when light or dark skills are used.\nAdditionally, Death Scythe ATT: +100%
              Reflection
