Cannoneer Guide

Updated for Tempest

Cannoneer is a Explorer Pirate job introduced in Legends update.  They have their own tutorial area on Coco Island near Nautilus Harbor. Cannoneer uses Hand Cannon (2H) and Pirate equips. Cannoneer is must have class for players because it has a Linked Skill called Pirates’ Blessing which gives +15 All Stats and +5% HP/MP. In addition, the Master of Organization skill gives +12 (level 1) and +24 (level 2) slots to equip, use, etc and setup inventory.

  • Secondary Weapon: None
  • Primary Stat: STR
  • Linked Skill: +15 All Stats and +5% MaxHP
  • Character Card: 2%/3%/4%/5% Reduction in exp loss after dying.

Pirate Blessing

Master Level: 1 Type: Passive

[Link Skill] Learn the Cannoneer's unique strengths to permanently increase various stats.

    Master of Swimming

    Master Level: 1 Type: Passive

    Permanently increases swimming speed.

      Master of Organization

      Master Level: 2 Type: Passive

      Expands Equip, Use, Set-up, and Etc. Inventory.

      • Level 1: Slots +12 (Obtained after 1st job advancement)
      • Level 2: Slots +24 (Obtained after 2nd job advancement)

      Except some beginner skills, the unique skills above are added automatically. There is no SPs needed for these skills.

      1st Job Advancement: Pirate

      Cannon Blaster

      Master Level: 20 Type: Active

      Shoots a flame bomb that attacks multiple enemies.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 11, Max Enemies Hit: 3, Damage: 225%
      Cannon Strike

      Master Level: 20 Type: Active

      Knocks back nearby enemies with a cannon strike.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 9, Damage: 95%, Max Monsters Hit: 1, Number of Attacks: 3.
      Blast Back

      Master Level: 15 Type: Active

      Fires the cannon while quickly moving backwards. Can decrease the speed of target for a fixed period of time.

      • Level 15: MP Cost: 20, Damage: 210%, Max Enemies Hit: 3, 70% chance of decreasing the speed of target by -60 for 5 sec.
      Cannon Boost

      Master Level: 10 Type: Passive

      Improves the cannon to permanently increase ATT and DEF.

      • Level 10: ATT: +20, Weapon DEF +250, Magic DEF: +250

      As an Adventurer, you have 64 SPs during 1st job but need 65 SPs. Cannon Blaster is better than Cannon Strike in terms of attack.

      • Level 10: Add 1 SP to Cannon Blaster
      • Level 11: Add 1SP to Blast Back and Cannon Strike so you can test the skills. Add 1SP Cannon Boost

      Summary: Everything is maxed except Cannon Strike(19) .

      2nd Job Advancement: Cannoneer

      Scatter Shot

      Master Level: 20 Type: Active

      Attack multiple enemies at once by firing a multitude of small bombs.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 24, Damage: 180%, Max Enemies Hit: 4, Number of Attacks: 2
      Barrel Bomb

      Master Level: 20 Type: Active

      Rolls an Oak Barrel full of bombs. The Oak Barrel will travel a certain distance, knocking back enemies in its path, before exploding.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 28, Damage: 40%, Max Enemies Hit: 8, Number of Attacks: 3, Knockback Chance: 100%, Explode dealing 250% damage after moving a fixed distance.
      Cannon Booster

      Master Level: 10 Type: Supportive Require: Lv 5 Mastery

      Uses MP to increase the attack speed of your cannon by 2 levels for a fixed period of time.

      • Level 10: MP Cost: 11, Duration: 200 sec.
      Monkey Magic

      Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive

      Uses the magic of the monkey to increase the HP, MP, all stats, Speed, Jump, Accuracy, and Avoidablity of all nearby party members for a fixed period of time. Can be stacked with other buffs.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 55, Duration: 300 sec, HP: +300, MP: +300, All Stats: +20, Speed: +10, Jump +5, Accuracy: +160, Avoidability +160
      Critical Fire

      Master Level: 10 Type: Passive

      Permanently increases your Critical Rate and the minimum Critical Damage.

      • Level 10: Permanently increases Critical Rate by 20% and Minimum Critical Damage by +10%
      Cannon Mastery

      Master Level: 10 Type: Passive

      Increases the weapon mastery and accuracy of cannons.

      • Level 10: Cannon Mastery: +50%, Accuracy: +120
      Pirate Training

      Master Level: 5 Type: Passive

      Increases STR and DEX through secret Pirate training.

      • Level 5: Permanently increase STR by 30 and DEX by 30.

      You have 124 SPs during 2nd job but need 125 SPs. Among two attack skills, Barrel Bomb is a better mobbing skill which may still being used in 3rd job.

      • Level 30: Add 1 SP to Scatter Shot
      • Level 31: Add 1 SP to Barrel Bomb and then…
      • Add 5 SPs to Cannon Mastery and 6 SPs to Cannon Booster. This gives 60 seconds boost of attack speed.
      • Well, you may max Barrel Bomb if you do like this mobbing skill a lot.
      • Otherwise, max Cannon Mastery for stable damage and then Barrel Bomb.
      • max Pirate Training
      • add SPs to Scatter Shot until it reaches (19).
      • max Monkey Magic for addtional stats and speed. During 2nd job, critical damage is not very important.
      • max Critical Fire
      • max Cannon Booster

      Summary: Everything is maxed except Scatter Shot(19).

      Tips: Do not depend on Monkey Magic to equip weapons or armours. Otherwise, you will not be able to attack if bosses debuffs you.

      3rd Job Advancement: Cannon Trooper

      Skills

      Cannon Spike

      Master Level: 20 Type: Active

      Fires a sharp cannonball that can penetrate multiple enemies.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 36, Damage: 170%, Max Enemies Hit: 6, Number of Attacks: 3
      Monkey Madness

      Master Level: 20 Type: Active

      Explodes a large number of special bombs that deals damage on multiple nearby enemies and stuns them for a fixed period of time. In addition, when Monkey Madness is learned, damage from Barrel Bomb will increase permanently.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 46, Damage: 280%, Max Enemies Hit: 10, Number of Attacks: 5, Stun Chance: 95%, Stun Duration: 4 sec, Cooldown: 5 sec; Passive Effects - Barrel Bomb: +30%
      Monkey Wave

      Master Level: 20 Type: Active

      Creates a large noise that deals damage to nearby enemies. The longer your gather your strength, the louder the noise will be. When critical is hit, it can be used immediately at full strength.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 55, Max Damage: 760%, Stun Chance: 95%, When Critical is hit: 20% chance of full strength
      Cannon Jump

      Master Level: 5 Type: Active

      Fires the cannon at the ground, and uses the recoil to jump high into the air. As you jump up into the air, nearby enemies will receive damage.

      • Level 5: MP Cost: 35, Damage: 210%, Max Enemies Hit: 6
      Barrel Roulette

      Master Level: 10 Type: Active

      Explodes an Oak Barrel to receive a random buff. When the buff is active, attacking an enemy has a fixed chance of causing abnormal status on them.

      • Level 10: MP Cost: 60, Buff Duration: 240 sec; When attacking, darkness, stun, freeze, or slow status will be applied to target at 30% chance for 5 sec. Cooldown time: 30 sec
      Luck of the Dice

      Master Level: 20 Type: Supportive

      Try your luck! Roll dice to get a random buff. Roll a 1, and you get nothing.

      • Level 20: MP Cost: 60, Buff Duration: 180 sec; Cooldown: 180 sec
      Reinforced Cannon

      Master Level: 10 Type: Passive

      Permanently increases ATT and Attack Speed by strengthening the cannon.

      • Level 10: Permanently increases ATT by 30 and Attack Speed by 1.
      Pirate Rush

      Master Level: 10 Type: Passive

      Permanently increases HP, DEF, and Abnormal Status Resistance.

      • Level 10: HP: +20%, DEF +50%, Abnormal Status Resistance +20%.
      Counter Crush

      Master Level: 10 Type: Passive

      When hit, there is a chance of countering the attack by swinging the cannon.

      • Level 10: 20% chance of blocking an enemy attack and countering with 160% damage.

      You have 151 SPs during 3rd job but need 155 SPs. You have to choose which skill not to max:

      • Cannon Spike - It is major attack skill in 3rd job but will be replaced in 4th job.
      • Barrel Roulette is not essential, but it do provide some buffs.

      The recommendation is not to max Cannon Spike as 3rd job is very easy nowadays. It will be even easier when the Tempest update comes.

      • Level 60: Add 1 SP to Cannon Spike to replace Scatter Shot.
      • Level 61: add 1SP each to Monkey Madness, Monkey Wave and Cannon Jump.
      • max Reinforced Cannon for additional ATT and speed.
      • max Monkey Madness to increase the damage of Barrel Bomb . But Monkey Madness has annoying 5 seconds cooldown.
      • max Monkey Wave - your strongest 3rd job skill.
      • add SPs Cannon Spike until (16)
      • max Luck of the Dice - it adds additional buffs. You may get a chance for 30% EXP bonus.
      • max Pirate Rush
      • max Counter Crush
      • max Cannon Jump
      • max Barrel Roulette

      Summary: Everything is maxed except Cannon Spike(19).

      4th Job Advancement: Cannon Master

      Cannon Bazooka

      Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Active

      Fires a powerful shot that deals damage to multiple enemies nearby.

      • Level 30: MP Cost: 75, Damage: 600%, Max Enemies Hit: 6, Number of Attacks: 2
      Cannon Barrage

      Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Active

      Focus your firepower on enemies ahead of you. Additional critical chance is applied.

      • Level 30: MP Cost: 63, Number of Attacks: 5, Damage: 285%, Bonus Critical Rate: 15%
      Nautilus Strike

      Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Active

      Order the Nautilus to attack multiple enemies at once.

      • Level 30: MP Cost: 350, Damage: 520%, Max Enemies Hit: 15, Number of Attacks: 3, Cooldown: 30 sec
      Anchors Aweigh

      Master Level: 15 Type: Supportive

      Places an anchor that creates a strong magnetic field. The magnetic field pulls enemies toward it. When the anchor disappears, it explodes, dealing critical damage to all nearby enemies.

      • Level 15: MP Cost: 86, Summon Duration: 20 sec. Pulls the enemy forward while dealing 300% damage at fixed intervals. When duration has run out, will explode to deal 420% additional damage
      Monkey Militia

      Master Level: 15 Type: Supportive

      Summons Artillery Monkey Twins to aid you in battle.

      • Level 15: MP Cost: 70, Summon Duration: 60 sec, Damage: 350%, Max Enemies Hit: 1, Cooldown: 10 sec.
      Double Down

      Master Level: 5 Type: Supportive Require: maxed Roll of the Dice

      Try your luck! Roll two dice, and if both have the same number, you'll receive a very powerful buff.

      • Level 5: MP Cost: 60, 50% chance of rolling a Double Down, Buff Duration: 200 sec, Cooldown: 200 sec
      Mega Monkey Magic

      Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Supportive

      Upgrade the magic of the monkey to increase the HP, MP, all stats, Speed, Jump, Accuracy, and Avoidablity of all nearby party members for a fixed period of time. Can be stacked with other buffs.

      • Level 30: MP Cost: 80, Duration: 300 sec, HP: +700, MP: +700, All Stats: +40, Speed: +15, Jump +10, Accuracy: +250, Avoidability +250
      Cannon Overload

      Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Passive

      Permanently increases the damage dealt by the cannon by upgrading the cannon's performance to its maximum capacity. In addition, a certain amount of enemy DEF will be ignored.

      • Level 30: Permanently increases damage to 40%. Enemy DEF ignored by 20%.
      Pirate's Spirit

      Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Passive

      Permanently increase the chance of a successful counterattack, and allows you resist being knocked back for a fixed period of time.

      • Level 30: MP Cost: 80, Duration: 300 sec, Stance Chance: 80%; Passive Effect - Permanently increases chance of counterattack by 16%
      Hero's Will

      Master Level: 5 Type: Supportive

      By focusing your mind, you can ignore some abnormal status effects. However, this will not work on all abnormal status effects.

      • Level 5: MP -30, Cooldown: 360 sec
      Maple Warrior

      Master Level: 30 (MB) Type: Supportive

      Increases all players' stats within a team by a certain percentage

      • Level 1: MP -10, All Stats: +1%, Duration: 30 sec
      • Level 30: MP -70, All Stats: +15%, Duration: 900 sec

      Now you can max everything. The build sequence is really depending on your preference and availability of mastery books.

      • Level 100: Add 1 SP to Cannon Bazooka , Cannon Barrage and Cannon Overload.
      • Level 101:Add 1 SP to Mega Monkey Magic , Nautilus Strike and Anchors Aweigh
      • add 1 SP to Monkey Militia and then max Double Down
      • max Cannon Overload
      • and then max Cannon Bazooka (mobbing skill) and Cannon Barrage (1v1 skill).
      • max Mega Monkey Magic for additional stats and damage.
      • max Pirate’s Spirit for stance chance.
      • max Maple Warrior
      • max Anchors Aweigh  and Hero’s Will (1 SP of Hero’s Will can be added at any point during 4th job)

      1. When does Cannonneer upgrade to the extra 24 slots? I’ve been lvling one up, she’s 26 now, she was dormant at 13 or so for a year.

      2. Thanks for correcting the error in the guide. In KMS’s Maple Unlimited, I believe Cannon Shooter does not receive the Level 2 Link Skill yet.

      3. The link skill description in the beginner skills section says “Ignore 10% of enemies defense” but that’s Lumi’s skill.

        Also, a little suggestion… Maybe you can start informing GMS players that link skills will soon be upgraded for a 2nd level (at level 120). All 10% skills will give 15% on lv 2. I’m not sure how much Cannoneer’s or Angelic Burster’s skill improves, but that’s easy to look up.
